Tourist Places to visit in Ooty and Coonoor – Part 2

1. Mudumalai National Park

Mudumalai National Park, which is also admitted as Tiger Reserve, is India’s first wildlife sanctuary. There are also tigers, leopards, striped hyenas, dholes, sloth bears, Asian elephants, and Golden Jackals to be seen as well as it connects the Eastern and Western Ghats. The Moyar River runs through the reserve, and you can expect to see a wide range of wildlife seeking freshwater there. The park is one of the few places in the country where you may view animals in their natural habitat, including a tiger in all of its wildness. A must-see for any real wildlife enthusiast. The Forest Department supports a number of forest houses across the park that are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be booked in advance by calling the National Park’s Ooty office.

2. Dolphin’s Nose

There is a rock that resembles the appearance of a dolphin’s nose, hence it’s called Dolphin’s Nose View Point. It is a major tourist attraction in Coonoor. It is 12 kilometers from the city of Coonoor and the Tiger Hills are nearby. St.Catherine Falls, which is located on the summit site, may be seen from this viewpoint. From here, you can also see the Coonoor River. Greenery and a jumble of treetops covered the deep forest valleys.

3. Sim’s Park

Sim’s Park is one of the nicest and most recommended spots to visit in Coonoor. It’s more of a botanical garden, with thousands of different and exotic types of flowers as well as age-old trees brought in from all across the country. The Rudraksh or beed tree, Cinnamomum (famous for producing fragrance oils in their leaves and bark), and Queensland karry pine, which is an ornamental tree, are among the garden’s most beautiful varieties of plants. Other plant species found here include Araucaria, Pine, Turpentine, Quercus, Phoenix, Magnolia, Tree ferns, and Camellia.

4. Avalanche Lake

Avalanche is known for its avalanche lake and sanctuary. One of Ooty’s most popular tourist attractions is Avalanche Lake. The lake is bordered on all sides by blooming flowers, which are a visual delight and the Emerald Lake is close by. The Avalanche Lake is also an important source of water for the Kundah Hydropower Stations. In the avalanche lake, you can go trout fishing. The trout hatchery, which is nearby, offers fishing rods and supplies. The avalanche sanctuary is completely encircled by dense woodland, allowing you to take in the beauty of nature while also having a relaxing and enjoyable trip.

5. Doddabetta Peak

The Nilgiris have a total of 24 higher peaks, the highest of which is Doddabetta. Travel lovers who enjoy outdoor activities such as trekking frequently visit and also from all over have visited the district’s highest peak to observe and appreciate the breathtaking views. One of the most well-known peaks in the Nilgiris, with unbeatable views of the majestic surroundings and plenty of photographic options.

6. Droog fort 

For history and architecture lovers, the Doorg Fort is an excellent place to visit in Coonoor. This old fort was originally used as an outpost by the great emperor Tipu Sultan, and it is located 13 kilometers from the city center.

The path leading to the fort is a beautiful one that trekkers enjoy. If you’re planning a vacation to Coonoor, don’t forget to visit and experience droog fort.

7. Law’s Falls

It is a lesser-known tourist destination in Ooty and is a good place to visit for a half-day excursion.

The Laws Falls, which can be seen from Dolphin’s Nose during the monsoon season, is ideal for honeymooners, family vacationers, and nature lovers. Don’t forget to bring your camera because the viewpoint provides a great chance to get some amazing nature shots.

8. Rallia Dam

At Rallia Dam, you can watch the sunsets, and Ralli, located on Wellington Road, allows you to enjoy the best of nature. Tourists of all kinds, whether solo travelers, couples, or wanderlust, come here at least once in a lifetime to get caught in its untouched beauty while taking in the breathtaking vista of Coonoor.

The views from the top of the dam are breathtaking, therefore it’s best to go during sunrise or sunset. Within the dam’s surroundings, one can also see Malabar Squirrels and Indian Bison. This location attracts a large number of tourists owing to its unique beauty and wonderful atmosphere in which to roam.
