1. Nilgiri Mountain Railway

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway, commonly known as the Toy Train in Ooty, is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the popular hill town of Ooty. The Toy Train travels 46 kilometers in 5 hours and offers breathtaking views along the way. 2. Emerald Lake

Emerald Lake is situated in Emerald Village, approximately 20-22 kilometers from Ooty’s main city, and is part of the Nilgiris District’s Silent Valley National Park. 4. Lamb’s Rock

Lamb’s Rock, also named Echo Rock, is a viewpoint within a reserve forest about 8 kilometers from the Coonoor Bus Stand. Watch out for a sheer drop of several hundred meters with a breathtaking view of broad forest areas all the way to the plains of Coimbatore. The trees turn brightly colored between January and March. A large forest reserve is located beneath the rock. A Hullical ravine with the Coonoor river is on the right. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations and can be reached on the route to Dolphin’s Nose or the Seat.

5. Pykara Lake and Falls

Pykara Lake is the result of the river’s dam and power plant. The river tumbles down the rocks a few hundred meters north of the lake to form the famous Pykara Falls. 6. Rose Garden

The Government Rose Garden is India’s largest rose garden. It is located at a distance of 2200 meters on the slopes of Elk Hill in Vijayanagaram, Ootytown. This garden now contains over 20,000 rose varieties and 2,800 cultivars. It has one of India’s largest rose collections.

7. Botanical Gardens

8. Tea Factory

For a tea lover, hardly anything equals a visit to a tea estate including tea tasting sessions. Highfield Tea Estate, about 2 kilometers northeast of Upper Coonoor, is a 50-year-old tea factory with the aroma of freshly brewed tea of exquisite types streaming through the atmosphere all day.

The tea estate tours are designed to be study tours for tea enthusiasts who get to see the tea processing in person. Because the estate is surrounded by eucalyptus trees, there is a unique tour to learn about eucalyptus oil extraction.
